NEW CLINIC GIVES HOPE FOR WOMEN AS LOOSE WOMEN STAR BREAKS DOWN OVER HAIR LOSS
Today’s media reporting on the emotional breakdown of TV star Nadia Sawalha and her hair loss has helped to heighten public awareness about the anxiety and stress that it can cause to women.
Indeed, an estimated 8 million women in the UK suffer hair loss at some time in their lives. This is often related to medical circumstances but can also be hereditary, hormonal or the result of physical stress.
The 52-year-old, Loose Women presenter shared a video on Facebook and said, “I used to have the most amazing hair. It was my crowning glory. It was my favourite thing about myself. But my hair really started to change after I had my kids. I lost a lot like a lot of new mums do but it started to change a lot. But when I started going through perimenopause I think I lost a third of my hair. It sounds awful saying it as people lose all of their hair to alopecia or cancer treatment but it doesn’t make it any easier, the fact that I’m losing my hair
Through tears she continues, “I went to the top hair guy, a specialist, who said to me that I have the balding gene. I didn’t know women could have it. He drew this picture of my hair follicles and he was saying the follicles have closed [in some areas] and they aren’t coming back. It makes me really sad, it just makes me feel old and I know I should feel grateful, I do try to and I do say I’m grateful but it doesn’t mean that I don’t miss my hair terribly.”
Whatever the cause, hair loss in women can have devastating effects and many studies have concluded major phycological impact with far reaching consequences. But the vast majority of sufferers will not seek help as they believe surgery or wearing a wig to be the only options.
Now, a new clinic offering a range of revolutionary, non-surgical but semi-permanent treatments has opened, and its treatments are available to patients without referral.
The Yorkshire Hair Loss Clinic has been set up by celebrity stylist Hayley Jennings who, through a career spanning two decades, has seen first-hand the effects that women and men experience through hair loss.
With the privilege of working with some of the world’s leading pioneers in hair treatment, Hayley has been able to recognise and harness tried and tested formulas that could offer a very real alternative to major surgical procedures…something that is simply not an option for many.
Hayley is one of few UK trained specialists in the ground-breaking Intralace system and she is also one of just a handful of stylists trained in Racoon International’s Hair in Recovery programme. Both of these offer tested, approved and trusted hair extension services structured to be both accessible and affordable to as many clients as possible.
Haley said, “My heart goes out to Nadia and her fans, many of whom can relate in some way, either as sufferers themselves or having experienced it through friends and family. I have seen first-hand how even thinning hair can cause a loss of self-esteem, depression and anxiety for clients. But they consider surgery to be too extreme and wearing a wig simply impractical, especially with an active lifestyle.
I am on a mission to provide an alternative to both of these with a range of non-invasive, affordable and manageable solutions to suit particular circumstances and want to reach out to them all with reassurance that there are many treatment options. I have treated many clients across the country with a practical semi-permanent treatment which allows them to go about their daily routine, including washing their hair as normal.”
Louise, a marketing consultant who Hayley has treated said, “My hair loss was not severe but very noticeable and I became increasingly self-conscious about my scalp showing through. I tried all sorts of ways to style my hair but it looked even worse in between colours where the grey came through.
“After various medical consultations, I thought that my only solution was to have surgical implants. Then Hayley talked to me about the Intralace System and how it could give me a full head of hair without damaging my own hair and scalp underneath. The process was very easy and I was able to match further extensions to the rest of my head.
“Now I no longer feel conscious about my hair and it makes my overall appearance much more healthy and vibrant. Nobody has noticed that I have had Intralace, but they have noticed my renewed confidence.”
The Yorkshire Hair Loss Clinic offers a free of charge private and discreet consultation process to discuss individual situations and help to find the best non-surgical solution for the long term.
Depending on the treatment prescribed, it can also offer a manageable payment programme or the client may be entitled to a major discount if the treatment is recognised under an NHS support scheme.
The Yorkshire Hair Loss Clinic is able to treat patients nationwide and may travel depending on the client circumstances. Visit www.yorkshirehairlossclinic.co.uk
